The Capitol Reef Campground is located within some old fruit orchards. These are apricots. Our trailer is visible in the background. The irrigated green swath of the orchard is a refreshing contrast to the surrounding desert. Most years the trees bear more fruit than folks want to pick, but this year a spring frost nipped the buds and there will be few if any apricots.

Joanie next to glass mountain. Well it turned out to not be a mountain, more of a twenty foot high mound, actually. And, no, it's not glass, it's actually gypsum crystals. Still worth a look.
Detail of the gypsum crystals.

Mystic Hot Springs
Achieved escape velocity from the Erie goat’s head mud flat (aka my daughter and son in law’s back pasture) on Thursday May 22nd. After an overnight visit with Ted and Linda Ciavonne in Grand Junction, we’re now hot springing in central Utah, unwinding … the view sure is pretty from here !
